Over the Tules

Over the Tules  4" x 6"
acrylic on bristol
SOLD
A group of Northern Shovelers flies low over some cattails at first light.  Although a common scene throughout the country, this particular scene was inspired by a trip to Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge.  This painting is currently not for sale as it was created for a fundraiser in conjunction with the upcoming Birds in Art exhibition.

WesternTanager

Western Tanager  5" x 7"  acrylic
SOLD
Here in the Pacific Northwest, it seems the population of these striking songbirds has increased.  There were numerous groups along the Metolius River in Central Oregon and I have seen some from my studio window in the Willamette Valley.  They appear to be almost gaudy and tropical because of the male's flashy color.

Morning Mallard

Morning Mallards  8" x 10"  acrylic
SOLD

A quiet hideaway provides a perfect loafing area for a group of mallard.  I saw this hidden backwater at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, one of my favorite places to watch waterfowl.  The distant water in the background is the famed Chesapeake Bay.
