Flock of Teal

Flock of Teal  5" x 7"  acrylic
SOLD
Here is a serene painting of a flock of greenwing teal - one of my favorite duck species.  They are the smallest of the dabbling ducks which basically means they tip up to feed instead of dive.  Greenwings are fast and acrobatic flyers and are always exciting to see!

Bufflehead

Bufflehead  5" x 7"  acrylic
SOLD
Buffleheads are named for their larger, striking heads.  They are buoyant birds that disappear under the waters surface to feed on invertebrates then reappear again.  Since these are diving ducks they prefer larger, deeper bodies of water.  However, they nest in woodpecker holes.

Goldfinch and Aspen

Goldfinch and Aspen  9" x 12"
acrylic
SOLD
A male goldfinch finds a moment of rest among the quaking aspen leaves.  Aspens are my favorite trees.  The sound their leaves make on breezy days is therapeutic and reminds me of the mountains.  In fact, we have planted several in our front yard for this very reason and this scene is from one of those trees.

Autumn Gold

Autumn Gold  5" x 7"  acrylic  $295
A grove of aspens is illuminated by the low afternoon light in Grand Teton National Park.  The colors of fall are always an amazing experience and this spot was so stunning when I saw it that I painted it twice from different angles.  The other painting is a little bigger and called Teton Gold.
